Stone Birds
New Zealand Stone Birds Collection
Handcrafted | Serpentine, Springstone & Mixed Natural Materials
New Zealand's most beloved birds, brought to life in beautiful stone.
Each sculpture in this collection is designed by Zimbabwean-born, New Zealand sculptor Jack Stobart and crafted along with his team from some spectacular stones. The kiwi's warm brown, the tūī's dark iridescence, the kererū's cool blue-green - in each case, the stone does much of the storytelling.
Every bird combines materials with care and purpose: wood for beaks, tails and feathers - often burnt to give depth and contrast - resin for eyes and fine detail, and recycled metal for feet and talons. No two pieces are identical. The natural variation in the stone means each sculpture carries its own unique character.
Collected individually or displayed together, these birds make a genuinely distinctive statement - at home on a windowsill, a bookshelf, or a boardroom table. They are the kind of object people pick up, turn over in their hands, and never quite put down again.
A genuinely handmade piece with a distinctly New Zealand soul - and a gift that will be kept for a lifetime.
