Stone Tūī Sculpture

Handcrafted | Springstone, Dolomite, Reclaimed Metal & Wood

New Zealand's most charismatic songbird, rendered in deep, lustrous stone.

Designed and crafted by Zimbabwean-born, New Zealand sculptor Jack Stobart, along with his team, each Tūī is shaped from Springstone - its rich, near-black tones flecked with deep olive and bronze, capturing the Tūī's own extraordinary iridescent plumage. The characteristic white throat pōī is carved from dolomite, and the delicate chest and back markings are inset resin - giving each piece an immediate and unmistakable likeness. No two pieces are ever alike.

The curved beak and sleek tail are crafted from dark timber, to match the bird's colouring, and the resin eye adds a vivid flash of red. The recycled metal feet are full of energy - every bit as fidgety as the bird itself.

Bold, beautiful and deeply woven into New Zealand culture and forest life, the tūī is a sculpture that resonates with anyone who has heard that extraordinary song echoing through the bush.

A genuinely handmade piece with a distinctly New Zealand soul - and a gift that will be kept for a lifetime.
